Who is Nico de Boinville?
Nico de Boinville is an English National Hunt jockey who rides principally for Lambourn-based, dual Champion Trainer Nicky Henderson. His major wins include the 2015 Cheltenham Gold Cup aboard Coneygree and three Queen Mother Champion Chases with Sprinter Sacre and Altior.
Nico’s race-riding career began while he was still a student at Newcastle University; having initially not planned for a racing career, he gave up his studies to pursue a potential career in the saddle by going to work at Seven Barrows. This led to some race-riding as an amateur jockey, and eventually as a professional.
He is renowned for his tactical ability in a race and, although he has ridden just shy of 500 winners in his career, Nico is more concerned with the quality of his rides and winners than of their quantity.
